Entry onto the course is dependent upon the student having already achieved a grade D in GCSE (in the higher paper). If a student has previously achieved a D grade in the foundation paper, they will be asked to undertake and achieve a satisfactory standard in a diagnostic test. Mature student applicants may have the opportunity to gain this qualification based on experience, prior knowledge and satisfactory performance in a diagnostic test.
How is the course assessed:
Two written examination papers, one calculator, and one non-calculator.
Maths is an essential pre-requisite for many courses and types of employment.
A grade C or above in GCSE Maths is a qualification required by many employers and is also necessary for progression onto a number of other courses, both in further and higher education.
